The Canaan Fir

A natural cross between Balsam Fir and Fraser Fir. Has fragrance similar to Balsam. Has excellent needle retention.

The Douglas Fir

The Douglas Fir tree has dark green soft needles approximately 1" to 1 1/2" in length. The tree is well proportioned and is one of the top Christmas tree species in the U.S. Originally popular in the Northwest, U.S. Needle retention is 4 out of 5.

The Fraser Fir

Another popular tree, the Fraser Fir has dark green flattened needles and a top rated 5 of 5 needle retention. Features: nice fragrance and strong branches, which turn upward. (Originated in southern Appalachians; named after the botanist, John Fraser.)

The White Fir

The White Fir tree has a natural and pleasing shape, with blue green needles 1/2" to 1" in length. This tree is prized for its citrus fragrance. Needle retention is good: 3 out of 5.

The White Pine

The White Pine tree has soft blue/green needles, which are grouped in bundles of five. Because it has little fragrance, it is less likely to create problems for those who suffer allergic reactions. It has a 4 out of 5 needle retention. Although it has a full appearance, its slender branches support fewer decorations (ideally: lighter decorations) compared to a fir.

The Blue Spruce

Despite its stiff needles, the Blue Spruce is becoming more common as a Christmas tree. While the color may vary from green to bluish green, it is a very symmetrical tree, with a top rated needle retention.

The White Spruce

The White Spruce is one of the most common American Christmas trees. Its stiff bluish green needles are to 1 inch long. Although it has little fragrance, it is prized for its very full symmetrical shape.
